Estimating Mass -This activity gives you plenty of practice with estimating mass in Grams and Kilograms.
The Ruler Game -Practice your skills in reading a ruler in this game. The first thing that you will want to do is to set your increment level. I might recommend starting out this game at 1/4 inch increments first and then set it to 1/8 inch increments later. If you become really good at reading a ruler, try the 1/16th increments!
The Measuring Game -This website allows you to work in reading either centimeters or inches. If you're having difficulty determining how long the line is, be sure to click on the magnifier to help you determine where the end of the line is located on the ruler.
The Funbrain Measurement Game -This website also gives you practice in reading a ruler. Select the difficulty level and whether you want to measure centimeters or inches.
The Measurement Workshop -This is a really cool activity by Mr. Nussbaum! I recommend selecting the "play" mode. Once you do that, you will need to select whether you want whole numbers, whole & half numbers, decimals, or fractions. I recommend working with whole & half numbers first. Then I would try your hand at either fractions or decimals next! If you're having difficulty, please be sure to watch the video. REMEMBER.. if you're using fractions and the measurement is less than 1 whole unit, you will need to type in "0" (zero) before typing in your fraction!

Unit Polyhedron Origami -One of the things that I've begun to explore, is the world of unit polyhedron origami. This website teaches you how to make a sonobe cube. Once you become an expert at creating the sonobe cube, you can then take several of these "sonobe units" and learn how to create other platonic solids such as an octahedron or an icosahedron!
The Ninja Star -This particular website calls it UFO origami. Whatever name you use, it certainly is a really cool piece of origami that allows you to change its shape once it is all finished!
Modular Origami Diagrams -If you're interested in trying some other variations on unit polyhedron origami, this is a great place to start! In fact, I got the link for the Ninja Star from this website. This site offers a ton of links to free diagrams instructing you on how to fold modular origami models.
Folding a Penultimate Module -You might have seen the penultimate dodecahedron that I made. Believe it or not, each module is only 6 folds! The challenging part is putting all of the modules together. This site will at least get you started on how to make a penultimate dodecahedron!

Platonic Solid Rock Video -This is a cool video that dives into the world of platonic solids. Not only is the video informative, but the music is cool too!
Unit Polyhedron Origami -One of the things that I've begun to explore, is the world of unit polyhedron origami. This website teaches you how to make a sonobe cube. Once you become an expert at creating the sonobe cube, you can then take several of these "sonobe units" and learn how to create other platonic solids such as an octahedron or an icosahedron!
The Ninja Star -This particular website calls it UFO origami. Whatever name you use, it certainly is a really cool piece of origami that allows you to change its shape once it is all finished!
Modular Origami Diagrams -If you're interested in trying some other variations on unit polyhedron origami, this is a great place to start! In fact, I got the link for the Ninja Star from this website. This site offers a ton of links to free diagrams instructing you on how to fold modular origami models.
Folding a Penultimate Module -You might have seen the penultimate dodecahedron that I made. Believe it or not, each module is only 6 folds! The challenging part is putting all of the modules together. This site will at least get you started on how to make a penultimate dodecahedron!
Dodecahedron Origami Video -There are a lot of YouTube origami tutorials out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are lousy! This one does a fairly good job of teaching you how to make and put together the penultimate dodecahedron using 5 different colors.

Then determine how many zeros you will need to tack onto your basic multiplication fact to determine the correct product. It's just that easy!

Prime and Composite Numbers -In our candy box research, we discovered that some numbers only produce 2 shapes. They only made 2 shapes because the only factors that work with these numbers are themselves and ONE. We learned that these numbers are called prime numbers. Other candy box research revealed that some numbers have more than 2 factors. We call these numbers composite numbers.
